HARYANA WAREHOUSING CORPORATION PANIPAT

Haryana Warehousing Corporation was set up on November 1, 1967 under the Warehousing Corporation Act, 1962 to carry out the following functions:-

a) Acquire and build god owns and warehouses at such places within the State as it may, with the prior approval of the Central Warehousing Corporation.             

b) Run Warehouse’s in the State for storage of agricultural products, seeds, manures, fertilizer, agriculture implements and other notified commodities.

c) Arrange facilities for the transport of agricultural produce, seeds, manures, fertilizers agricultural implements and notified commodities to and from warehouses.

d) Act as an agent of the Central Warehousing or of the Govt. for the purpose of purchase, sale, storage and distribution of agricultural produce, seeds, manures, fertilizers, agricultural implements and notified commodities.

e) Carry out such other function as may be prescribed;

Under ‘e’ above the following additional function of the Corporation have been prescribed by the State Govt. in Haryana Warehousing Corporation Rules, 1969.

i) The Corporation may, at its discretion and at the request of the parties concerned, undertake dis-infestation service out side it’s Warehouses in respect of agricultural produce or notified commodities as defined in Section "2".

ii) The Corporation may, at its discretion, act as an agent for the purpose of purchase, sale, storage and distribution of agricultural produce, seeds, manures, fertilizers, agricultural implements and notified commodities as defined in Section "2" on behalf of a company as defined in the companies Act, 1956 (one of 1956) of a body incorporate established by an Act of Parliament or a State legislature or a Co. operative society.

Details of Concern:

The Haryana Warehousing Corporation is carrying out the activities in the District of Panipat with the 6 Warehouses controlled by the District office, located in the Industrial Area, Panipat.

List of Warehouse’s:

ACTIVITIES:

1. Storage :

Scientific storage of agricultural produce and other notified commodities in our Warehouse’s belonging to farmers, Traders, Govt. agencies at the nominal charges. The stocks stored are fully insured by the Corporation against the risk of theft, burglary, fire, flood and riots.

2. Procurement :

We are the procuring agency of Govt. of Haryana for the procuring of wheat/Paddy of the farmers to help them with the purpose to stabilize the prices as per the policy of Govt.

3. Distribution and handling agent :

We render the services of distribution and handling of goods of the depositors/Govt. agencies i.e. Cement, Fertilizer etc.

4. Indirect Financing :

The title of goods i.e. Warehouse receipt issued by the Manager for the goods deposited in the Warehouse can be pledged with any Nationalized Bank for obtaining the loan.

5. Dis-Infestation Extension Service Scheme :

Warehousing renders services for the dis-infestation of food grains stored for domestic use/commercial purposes by the owner in their own possession, for this we charge a nominal cost of 75 paisa per bag under this scheme.

6. Farmers Extension Service Scheme :

Under this scheme we use to educate the farmers to preserve their agricultural produce at their  home/farms and nothing is charged. It is free service rendered in the public interest.

Achievements:

The following are the achievements achieved by Warehousing Corporation in the Distt. of Panipat for the year 2007-08.

    5. PROCUREMENT OF PADDY : Kharif, 2007

We wish to extend our services at every Mandi of Panipat District. We are helping the agriculture sector of Haryana to reduce the post harvest losses/storage losses caused by insect pests, maintenance of quality and preservation of Agriculture produces and helping the State for procurement of wheat and Paddy.

Our motto is to preserve the produce to achieve the progress and prosperity for the citizen of the State of Haryana.
